WHISTLER, British Columbia - Experience the magic at Ice Kingdom! The province’s largest-ever snow and ice sculpture exhibit will be making its way to Whistler for a limited time between February 3rd and March 31st, 2018.
The entire family is invited to enjoy 40,000 square feet of jaw-dropping snow and ice sculptures. Children & adults alike can immerse themselves in a frozen paradise of wonder and explore intricately-carved ice slides as well as several other interactive elements. The exhibit tests the limits of one’s imagination and uses only the elements to create a winter wonderland beyond comparison. Treat your ears to the sound of daily live music and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate as you explore a frozen Eden carved of imagination.
A history born out of family and community values: The brainchild of master carver David Xu Rui, Ice Kingdom celebrates a 300-year-old Chinese tradition of friends and family gathering to create sculptures out of snow and ice. The activity has a history rooted in family values, as adults would carve toys for their children during the long winters and engage in friendly competitions with other families to see who could display the most intricate piece of art.
Now, after more than 25 years traversing the globe and reshaping nature with his reality-defying sculptures, David is bringing his team of talented carvers to the Sea-to-Sky Corridor!
This Friday, Ice Kingdom Whistler opens its gates to Sea-to-Sky Country. We’re inviting locals from Squamish to Mount Currie to take in the largest snow sculpture exhibit ever to hit British Columbia. For ONE DAY ONLY, admission is free! Just book your ticket* online, and then present your proof of local residency at the gate. Forms of acceptance include government-issued ID, pay stub or a recent utility bill.
We encourage you to take advantage of this one-time offer, as Ice Kingdom welcomes the general public on Saturday, February 3rd.
This 40,000 square foot exhibit features 50 snow sculptures, a snow maze and a children’s slide. After the sun goes down, Ice Kingdom lights up in full colour. Hot chocolate, snacks and adult beverages are also available for purchase.
