Event Details

As part of our year-long Anniversary celebrations, join us on Sunday, April 25th and start your day off right with a soothing and healing 60-minute Qigong class from 9:30am-10:30am.

This event has a limited capacity of 6 participants.

Registered participants are invited to arrive at the Garden at 9am and spend some time enjoying the peace and tranquility of the Garden before the class begins.

The Garden’s primary entrance has been relocated to Keefer and Carrall St, right across from S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Simon K.Y. Lee Senior Care Home.

Then, and as the class comes to an end, we welcome you to unwind and relax inside the Garden for another 30 minutes or by exploring the installations across the Garden as we share objects and memorabilia from the past! From archive photos, historical newspaper clippings, collages and video displays, to tools used by skilled craftsman in constructing the Garden, this exhibition will take you on a trip down memory lane back to 1986.

Qigong is an ancient old system of coordinated body-posture and movement, breathing, and meditation used for the purposes of health, spirituality, and martial-arts training.

Our long-time partner Lucas Trottier, head instructor at the Vancouver Traditional Martial Arts Dojo, will be leading the class. He regularly teaches classes in Shorinji Ryu Karate, Old Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan, Okinawan/Japanese Kobudo and the principles of Daito Ryu Aiki-Jujutsu. He has been an active collaborator with the Garden for many years!

Participants are encouraged to bring a bottle of water with them from home.
