City Opera Vancouver’s CHINATOWN is an upcoming opera by Madeleine Thien and Alice Ping Yee Ho, set to come out September 2022.
Before its world premiere at The Vancouver Playhouse, join us for a chance to hear the entire work for free!
Performers will present a piano-vocal concert: one keyboard, six singers. The work itself is in English, and in certain sequences Tosain.
At the end of its two acts and two hours, questions and comments from the audience will be welcome as your valuable and much appreciated insight will allow this performance to organically evolve and mature until it opens next year.
The Garden is honoured and thrilled to, once again, be partnering with City Opera Vancouver.
This is a free event and there is a limited capacity of 50 guests.
Because the safety and well-being of our staff and visitors is and always has been our priority, and as we keep monitoring all Public Health Orders updates we will be requiring proof of vaccine (vaccination card) to attend this event.
1:45pm: Guests are welcome to start arriving and taking their seats (seating is not assigned. First come, first serve)
2pm-4:30pm: Concert takes place at Hall of One Hundred Rivers (indoor room with heating).
4:30-5:00pm: Q&A. Audience is invited to share, comments and give feedback to the performers and creators.
