Event Details

Started in 2021, Spells for Chinatown is a multi-layered, multicultural and intergenerational celebration of Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month that we are delighted to welcome back for its 2nd Edition on May 19 and 29.

We are thrilled to partner with Dumb Instrument Dance and a roster of talented dance and sound artists in improvised installations that send healing prayers and good vibrations into the world. We invite you to visit Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden and join us starting at 5pm for a 40-minute multi-sensory event to move about, meditate and to share in conjuring a little outdoor magic. This is a free event and there is a limited capacity of 40 guests for each time slot.

On both May 19th and 29th doors open at 4:45pm and performance start at 5pm. Event ends around 5:45pm and we welcome you to stay and chat with the performers and/or take a moment for yourselves in the garden.

Multiple areas of the Garden will be animated through incantations of movement and music.

The Garden’s primary entrance has been relocated to Keefer and Carrall St, right across from S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Simon K.Y. Lee Senior Care Home.
